Installation
Use the Lecture Floor Mounting Details drawing as reference for the following instructions.
- Use approved floor plan to establish hole locations for the base plates. Note that the chair radius line coincides with the center of the base plate. Accurate center-to-center width spacing is critical to a proper installation. Tolerance on the Seat/Table Support (STS) spacing is plus or minus 1/4".
- Install STS's (A) to the floor as per the appropriate anchoring method, using four screws and countersink lock washers. If necessary, use flat washers under the STS base plate in order to level the STS so the swing arms (B) are level and the top of the plates of each STS in a given row are level to each other. Tighten bolts.
- Fasten mounting plate (C) to the STS (A) using four 1/4-20 x 3/8 flat head machine screws.
- Consult TSI floor plan layout in order to identify and gather all worksurfaces (E) required for a specific row. Place worksurfaces in the proper sequence on the STS's. Insert one spline (F) into the edge rout of one worksurface at each joint location. {If the electrical system is included, a two piece spline set will be used.} Align adjacent worksurfaces and push together until worksurfaces touch. After insuring complete alignment, secure the worksurfaces together using two joint connectors (G).
- After all worksurfaces within a row are connected, position the worksurface assembly according to the floor plan and mounting instructions. Secure the top mounting plates (C) to the worksurfaces (E) using six #10 x 7/8" pan head sheet metal screws for each mounting plate. Insure the front edges of the worksurfaces are aligned before securing them to the plates.
Use the Lecture Support Panel Details drawing as reference for the following instructions.
- Attach support panel (J) to the worksurface (E) using one upper angle (K) and six #10 x 5/8" pan head sheet metal screws.
- Plumb the support panel, locate the floor angle (M), and mark hole locations on the floor.
- Remove the floor angle and drill the proper size hole for the specified anchoring method.
- Attach the floor angle to the floor and secure the support panel to the floor angle using two #10 x 7/8" pan head sheet metal screws.
Use the Lecture Straight Modesty Panel Details drawing as reference for the following instructions.
- Starting at one end of the row, install the first modesty panel (C) tight against the support panel (D) and into the slot on the underside of the worksurface (E). Secure the modesty panel (C) to the support panel with steel angle (F) and six #10 x 5/8" pan head sheet metal screws. Secure the modesty panel (C) to the underside of the worksurface with straight modesty panel brackets (Z) and six #8 x 5/8" pan head sheet metal screws in the locations shown on the layout drawings.
- For each successive modesty panel, place the modesty panel into the slot on the underside of the worksurface (E) and slide tightly against the previously installed modesty panel. Screw the connector plate (H) into each modesty panel using six #8 x 5/8" pan head sheet metal screws. Secure the modesty panel (C) to the underside of the worksurface with straight modesty panel brackets (A) and six #8 x 5/8" pan head sheet metal screws in the locations shown on the layout drawings.
- Continue installing the remainder of the modesty panels by repeating step 2 above.
- After installing the last modesty panel in the row, secure the modesty panel to the support panel (D) with a steel angle (F) and six #10 x 5/8" pan head sheet metal screws.
Use the Lecture Curved Modesty Panel Details drawing as reference for the following instructions.
- Attach curved modesty panel brackets (A) to the center mounting blocks (B) on all modesty panels (C) using six 1/4-20 x 1/2" pan head machine screws.
- Starting at one end of the row, install the first modesty panel (C) tight against the support panel (D) and into the slot on the underside of the worksurface (E). Secure the modesty panel (C) to the support panel with a steel angle (F) and six #10 x 7/8" pan head sheet metal screws. Secure the modesty panel (C) to the underside of the worksurface with curved modesty panel brackets (A) and three #10 x 7/8" pan head sheet metal screws.
- For each successive modesty panel, place the modesty panel into the slot on the underside of the worksurface (E) and slide tight against the previously installed modesty panel. Insert two 1/4-20 x 5-1/2" threaded rods (G) into the grooves in the end mounting blocks and hand-tighten a 1/4" flat washer and 1/4" hex nuts onto each end. Screw one side of the connector plate (H) into the end mounting block (J) on the modesty panel previously installed using three #10 x 1/2" pan head sheet metal screws.
- Uniformly tighten the hex nuts on the threaded rods (G) until the modesty panels are joined together with no gap between them. Screw the other side of the connector plate (H) into the end mounting block (J) of the newly installed modesty panel using three #10 x 1/2" pan head sheet metal screws.
- Secure the modesty panel to the underside of the worksurface with curved modesty panel brackets (A) and three #10 x 7/8" pan head sheet metal screws.
- Secure the top of the joint between the two modesty panels to the underside of the worksurface with a curved modesty panel angle (K) and four #10 x 1/2" pan head sheet metal screws.
- Continue installing the remainder of the modesty panels by repeating steps 3-5 above.
- After installing the last modesty panel in the row, secure the modesty panel to the support panel with a steel angle (F) and six #10 x 7/8" pan head sheet metal screws.
Use the Chair Uppers drawing as reference for the following instructions.
- Check the 3/8-16 x 1-1/2" bolt (P) at the bottom of the tube at the end of each swing arm (B) to verify it is installed to a sufficient depth to prevent full engagement of the tapered fit of the swivel and return cylinder (see Section View C).
- Insert a swivel and return cylinder (N) into the tube at the end of each swing arm (B).
- Install chair upper onto the top of the cylinder and press down to insure good engagement. Allow the swing arm (B) to move to the closed position, being careful that the chair does not hit the worksurface.
- Align the chair with the table edge and slowly loosen the 3/8-16 x 1-1/2" bolt until the cylinder is seated and fully engaged inside the swing arm. Firmly press the chair in place.
